Subhash Kamboj
Hello and welcome! My name is Subhash Kamboj, and I am a professional apiculturist, migratory beekeeper, and sustainable honey entrepreneur based in Yamunanagar, Haryana.
For nearly three decades, my life has been intimately intertwined with the incredible, industrious world of the honeybee. What started as a small curiosity on my family farm has transformed into a lifelong mission to bring pure, ethical, and scientifically backed honey literacy to India and the world.
National Recognition & Credentials
I believe that true authority in agriculture is built on hard work, transparent practices, and the trust of the community. Over the years, my efforts have been blessed with some of the highest honors a citizen of India can receive:
- Featured on PM’s "Mann Ki Baat" (Episodes 75 & 91): I was incredibly honored when Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared my journey on his national radio program. In the 75th episode, he highlighted me as an inspirational role model (Prerna Sutra) for farmers. In the 91st episode, he shared my full success story—detailing how I scaled my dream from just six boxes to a massive national enterprise.
- Guest of the Prime Minister: Following this recognition, I had the immense privilege of being invited as an official state guest of the Prime Minister for four unforgettable days.
- State & Administration Awards: My dedication to innovating the honey industry has also been recognized closer to home, earning me official awards from the Chief Minister of Haryana and our local Deputy Commissioner.
My Journey: From 6 Boxes to a National Enterprise
If you told me back in July 1996 that I would become a national figure in honey production, I wouldn’t have believed you.
My journey began with a simple investment of ₹500 for six bee boxes. I didn't want to start a business; I just wanted pure honey for my family and natural pollinators for our mustard, toria, and sunflower crops.
But nature has a beautiful way of rewarding curiosity. In that very first year, those six boxes yielded over ₹2,500 worth of honey and doubled in size to 11 boxes. Witnessing the dedication, intelligence, and relentless work ethic of the honeybee sparked an unstoppable passion within me. By 2001, I transitioned into full-time professional apiculture.
Today, my operations manage a steady baseline of over 2,000 bee boxes, producing roughly 40 to 45 tons of raw honey annually. More importantly, I now run a collaborative network where I source, filter, and market premium honey from fellow migratory beekeepers, ensuring they receive fair, sustainable prices for their hard work.
My Philosophy: Ethical Apiculture & Deep Expertise
To me, honey is not just a commercial product; it is a sacred element that our ancient scriptures rightly call Amrit (nectar of life). My business is anchored on strict scientific understanding and ethical treatment of our bees:
1. Migratory & Nomadic Beekeeping
Pure honey cannot be synthesized in a factory; it belongs entirely to the flowers. Because India boasts incredibly diverse climates and flowering seasons, my team of 12 to 15 specialized handlers and I practice migratory beekeeping. We travel across multiple states throughout the year, following seasonal blooms to collect unique, single-origin floral honeys.
2. The Science of Ripe Honey
We never harvest prematurely. When bees collect nectar, it contains 60%–80% moisture. They meticulously process it in the hive until the moisture level drops perfectly to 18%–19%, at which point they seal the comb with natural wax. This is our signal that the honey is mature, shelf-stable, and packed with nutrients.
3. Cruelty-Free Harvesting
The bees are my partners and my wealth. When we harvest honey, we use modern, gentle centrifugal machinery that extracts only the liquid honey, leaving the wax comb 100% intact. We immediately return these combs to the boxes so our bees can continue their life cycle unharmed.
Dispelling Honey Myths & Educating India
A core part of my mission is teaching people how to understand raw honey. There are two major misconceptions I work hard to clear up:
The Crystallization Myth: Many people in India think that if honey freezes or turns into a solid cream, it is fake or full of sugar. This is entirely false! Crystallization is a 100% natural trait of raw honey, governed by the ratio of glucose and fructose from the source flower.
For instance, Mustard Honey makes up nearly 60% of India's honey production. It naturally crystallizes into a thick, beautiful spread that looks like desi ghee. While Western countries call this "Cream Honey" and pay premium prices to import it, domestic consumers often misunderstand it. I am trying to change that.
How to Test for Purity at Home
If you want to verify your honey, try the Flame Test. Dip a cotton wick cleanly into your honey and strike a match to it. Pure raw honey will catch fire and burn smoothly. If it contains artificial sugar syrups or adulterated water weight, the moisture will sputter, and it will fail to ignite.
A Pure Gift for Your Health
Honey is a dynamic, living food. Because it is naturally pre-digested by bees, your body doesn't need hours to break it down. Within 20 minutes of consumption, it is fully absorbed by your digestive tract and enters your bloodstream as pure, clean energy with zero waste.
From using low-glucose honeys (like Jamun, Neem, or Ajwain) as diabetic-friendly options, to enjoying its natural anti-inflammatory benefits, raw honey deserves a place on your dining table every single day—not just as a medicine when you are sick, but as a staple food.
Thank you for being here, for supporting ethical farming, and for choosing to experience honey the way nature truly intended.
